About
Contact: feminishblog@gmail.com I am a twenty-three year old cis female, currently living in Los Angeles. I go by the name Victoria Snow. I am an actor; feminist; activist; body acceptance advocate; gamer. I enjoy writing poetry; dancing; French New Wave Cinema (particularly anything Jean-Luc Godard); kisses, yoga; self-education; vintage dresses; Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked Ice Cream. School of Thought: If I was forced to choose just one, I believe I would most identify with Radical feminist philosophy. But… Since I don’t have to choose just one, I liken myself to be a combinations of Radical/Socialist/Sex-Positive feminist philosophies, with a dash of Anarcha-feminism as well. Major Feminist Influences: Ariel Levy, Jaclyn Friedman, Jessica Valenti, Andrea Dworkin (the general philosophies deeply rooted underneath her very extremist ideals), Naomi Wolf (in ‘The Beauty Myth’), Audre Lorde, bell hooks, and Gloria Steinem. Overview of the Issues: I am pro-gay marriage. I don’t think the label should have to be “civil unions” in response to the sanctity of marriage. If we’re saying individuals can’t be religious or get married because they’re gay, then I guess none of us can either… The bible says no to haircuts too. Gender is a state of mind, not a reproductive organ. I am pro-choice, in the sense that I don’t think Washington should be able to govern women’s bodies. But that does not make me pro-abortion. I think the choice in pro-choice should mean that there are many options, not just an either/or binary. I am not pro-sex work, but I am pro-sex worker. There is no excuse to treat individuals that hold this title any less human that anyone else. Allowing workers (that’s what they are… workers) to be taken advantage of, brutalized, raped, and murdered just because there is a stupid stigma attached to the profession is wrong. These individuals deserve protection. It’s horrible that even has to be said in the first place. I am against hardcore pornography in its current state. There are too many cons that do not come close to outweighing the pros in my opinion. It may provide some women with a pay check, but that doesn’t mean that overall it’s good or healthy for women. And frankly, I don’t think it’s particularly good or healthy for men either. I believe there is a difference between porn and erotica. I do not have a problem with sexual acts and practices like BDSM in people’s personal lives as long as it is consensual. Frankly, what anyone does in their bedroom is none of my business anyway… unless I’m invited to join. Like any industry though, the porn industry sees dollar signs before it sees human beings, and I think there are many aspects of the business that would need to be torn down and rebuilt into something different before I would not find it, and its resulted pornified culture, a serious problem. Objectification, commodification, dehumanization, and the hyper-sexualization of the female person and her body makes me sick. Women are not just three holes and a pair of boobs. Speaking of boobs, yours are beautiful. And every other woman’s (or man’s) are too for that matter. I am a firm believer in body acceptance, and hope to help spread this message. Love your body. Love yourself. And that doesn’t just include women. I know men are not without their own oppressions and feelings of insecurity that living in a patriarchal society produces. I love men, I welcome male allies, and men who also identify as a feminist. I think that is powerful and necessary to break down the gender binary and free men and women, both from oppression - resulting in their freedom to be and do whatever they want to be. Without judgement. Without shame.
