Anonymous asked: My boyfriend is a brony. It bothers me to no end. I understand if you approve of a kids show, or enjoy it a little (I occasionally, when I am sick, tune in to an episode of Wonder Pets, but I don't follow it religiously). I am so, SO confused about the whole allure of the MLP fandom, and truth is, it creeps me out that grown people (not grown men, grown PEOPLE) like a little kid's show so much. I know this is me judging, but it's weird, and their is even pony erotica out there.

I can’t decide if I want to look up this pony erotica or not. I’m just so curious… I think I have so much work to do tonight, and don’t know if I can risk the after effects of getting my mind blown… ;-)

Anon added: There is kind of a fandom for pony porn, yeah. It doesn’t change the fact that people legitimately enjoy the show, though! And besides, I don’t think it’s okay to judge people on their fetishes, as long as they’re not hurting anyone. Plus, if it’s any concern, all the main ponies are canonically college-age - not kids - according to the creators.

forasgardandthrealmeternal added: for the love of god don’t look at the pony erotica!

Anon, that was an interesting point bringing up their age. I hadn’t even thought about that, but I guess that’s good they are of age. And forasgardandthrealmeternal, thank you for giving me the biggest laugh I’ve had all day. When I first read that I almost choked and died on my Subway sandwich. Haha :-) I didn’t google it. Perhaps next time I am inebriated…

wolfennights added: not every brony partakes in the erotica. it’s just a fun show with great characters.

therealpinkiepie added: MLP is a legitimately good show (mostly), with female characters who aren’t just interested in boys/dating or shopping. I’ve seen most of the episodes and watched them with my boyfriend too. Yes, the pony porn is a creepy part of the fandom, but it’s a tiny tiny minority and it shouldn’t represent all of the fans! The creators of the show frequently give shoutouts to older fans in the show too, so it’s pretty clear they’re ok with the viewers.

Another anon added: The creator of MLP, Lauren Faust, is also a feminist. She also understands what is attractive in a show to all ages. Plus the college age kid to late twenties demographic is an easy hit because she worked on all the Cartoon Network shows of our youth. Powerpuff Girls, Dexter’s Lab, etc. (She’s Craig McCracken’s wife.)
