twentysomethinghussy asked: I think the anon is talking about Shirley and Chang in community. During an episode, they have CONSENSUAL sex, but neither of them remember it (for reasons I can't remember now -- no one remembered anything that happened that day in the episode). I don't know how you get rape from that...

Contd. Oh, I also want to add that when they had sex in the episode they were not under the influence of drugs or alcohol or anything like that. Their memory loss was unrelated to the sex…

Ah, wow, my brain must be getting pretty drained. Thanks, L! :-) also, to the anon who posted the question I verified the incident in a recap, and the reason nobody remembered was because the Army came in and wiped everybody’s memory clean because of the whole zombie incident at Greendale. It was blamed on roofies later as a cover up. So in short: there was no rape, but there were zombies and consensual sex. :-)

cmhalling added: I’d also just comment that although they do find humor in Shirley’s situation (it is, after all, a comedy), they also spend some time addressing her emotional reaction to it. She struggles to even speak to Chang afterward, she and her husband have to work through it, she worries about the role he’ll play in her family’s life going forward, and eventually he helps her through delivery when her husband was delayed in arriving. It’s not perfect, obvi, but they do address it. —Community super fan
