Anonymous asked: I recently discovered that one of my school professors was previously convicted of sexually assaulting and raping students at his former college. The information is clear for all to see online - it isn't a closely guarded secret. However now I feel completely uneasy in his presence. I'm concerned that if I do lodge a complaint, I have little grounding as myself or any current students have not been targeted. Also, if I do complain but no action is taken, I will be very, very vulnerable.

I would feel completely uneasy in his presence as well! No one should have to feel unsafe at school. Do you know how recently he was convicted of these crimes and if they were expunged from his record or something like that? If not, I honestly have no idea how he is still teaching. Seriously. That seems more than ass-backwards to me, and just plain ireesponsible to allow him to continue in such a profession.

It does not matter that you or your fellow classmates have not (yet) been targeted. Do they expect you to wait until it does, then he’ll get sent to another school. I am not trying to frighten you, I’m perhaps just outraged at how this is even something that we are having to discuss. You have every right to address your concerns and have them heard. I would absolutely do so as soon as possible and please let me know if there is anything I can do to tell, like call the school and complain too. I could pretend I’m a student or a sibling of one of his students or something.
