Suicides, bullying and violence don't seem all that funny to me, and that happens because ignorant people see their attitudes supported and gay people still need to live in fear of violence and discrimination. It was a great thing that Sara Quin did, standing up for her belief in equality, herself and loads of other people and being a role model unlike Tyler. Some people need to think their words twice.
