She doesn't like that I am so outspoken about it. On multiple occasions she has told me that I will never meet someone or I will end up with no friends because I am so outspoken about my beliefs. Your blog is one of those places I like to turn to. It brings me back to the reality that there are so many people out there like me. Thank you!
That is unfortunate that she’s turned off by the word, and I know how hard that can be, especially when the issues and movement resonate so strongly with you.
I have been told the same things, and although I’m sure they aren’t meant to intentionally be scare tactics, but that’s kind of what they are, and that’s all they are. There’s no base of truth in that. And if anything, it’ll probably help you ween out the good pickings from the bad pickings, so you’ll end up with friends and a partner that you can confide in and share with, and be your true self around. I’m not saying it is easy. A lot of individuals are happy to turn a blind eye to the social injustices around them, but you know what? There are also a lot that do not, and you’ll be happy you held out for them when you find them.
You also always have this community here to lean or for support when you need it, and I am so humbled that you take advantage of it. That warms my heart. :-)
