You’re right that is equally as ridiculous and innaporpriate of a thing to say to a male - no matter if it is their choice or otherwise to reproduce. I hope I did not sound as if I thought otherwise.
I do thing the matter is treated differently between the sexes though. For whatever the reason, I’ve more often heard women who do not have children to be deemed “unnatural”, and men on the other hand assumed “gay”. That is a loaded subject there in and of itself.
There is also a stereotype I’ve also frequently come across for men who don’t have children to be considered a “bachelor” (not in the literal sense but the ‘Hubba Hubba, I wanna!’ Sense) or a “playboy”.
